So Tired! Is this normal?

I started Radiotherapy this week.   Only had 3 sessions of 20 and so far have done really well or so I thought!    Last night I felt absolutely wiped out exhausted and feel same today.  Skin has already turned pink and feels very tender.  I was expecting to have some kind of reaction but definitely not this early on?!?!?   Is this effect of radiotherapy or likely to be something else.   I really can't believe that only 3 sessions would leave me this worn out!   I practically breezed through lumpectomy and despite a few hot flushes the anastrozole hasn't been too bad.   I know I've been very lucky up to now.   I'm generally very fit and active and up til today have still been up and about walking the dog for 4 - 5 miles a day! If this is effect of radiotherapy crikey I've got another 17 sessions to go!    Has anyone had a reaction this early and can offer advice....

  • Hello Diggergirl,

welcome to the reality than can be radiotherapy.l had 36 sessions and was doggydooed by the end of the first five.Carried on working on a farm,6 hours a day ,but collapsed after that. each day.My best advice is not too stress,do what you are able to do and be happy with that, and remember it does get basck to normal gradually after chemo finishes. And remember there is a big disconnect between mind and body during this, and the body needs to take precedence.Hope it goes well and does not drag too much,or you get so tired you have not got the energy to let it worry you anymore,

  • Hey digger girl , how are you doing? It's almost a year from our diagnosis   can u believe it.

How did u get on with the radiotherapy?  I too found it was draining. I slept a lot during my treatment time.  Also I went red too but the worst bit was the nipple  actually burnt black.  Had to see the nurse for the gel to apply to it.

I can honestly say that I am still having a lot of issues with my bad breast. The nipple is still black and now has a lump under it, which I got checked by my bcn, who said it felt like  scar tissue as she could feel the ridge???  However I'm not to sure as it wasn't there before this. It's got to the point it's painfull  to even have a bra on rubbing against it. But I'm due my first mamagram post treatment  so don't know how that will go.

I do hope you are keeping well now and that you have not had any more trouble.   I know ur op was September 9th   so hopefully u have been cancer free since.x take care. Xx
