Worried

I had a mastectomy In April followed by six rounds of chemotherapy I am now due to have my radiotherapy next week but my oncologist called me the other day to say they have found a shadow and lump on my CT scan I went to hospital Friday and they have drained fluid from where I had that mastectomy But fluid came back I am due for a ultrasound scan tomorrow and very worried that this might show something else

Has any one else had this problem with fluid I'm hoping that my ultrasound will show that this is all it is

    Hi Sal_w,

I had a double mastectomy ten years ago, following a lumpectomy the previous year. Both ops were for different cancers. I developed Seroma after my mastectomy and had to have fluid removed a couple of times. It can return, but it gradually reduces in amount.

I hope that your ultrasound goes well tomorrow and, that nothing untoward is found.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou x

I had my ultrasound scan and everything is good it is a seroma which I  had drained, they told me if it comes back just to go back to the hospital again,it was such a relief

    Hi,

I'm glad to hear that it is just a seroma. This must be quite a relief for you. This can get quite uncomfortable as it builds up, so don't hesitate to let your breast care nurse know if it builds up again. Try not to worry. They do eventually settle

    Kind regards,
