Scans for lymphoma

What would be best to diagnose lymphoma a ct or an mri or is there any other more beneficial scan to have xx

  • Hi Milly,

Mine wasn't diagnosed until I had an endoscopy, and biopsies taken. Nothing showed up on the CT scan. I then had a PET scan to see whether I had problems anywhere else.

  • Oh right what where your symptoms if you don't mind me asking and did your ct come back completely normal or where there some red flags that made them continue to investigate?

  • Hi Millie,

I had symptoms for a while, but thought I had indigestion. I was hopping on and off planes for work, popping Gaviscon to keep me going. I felt nauseous after eating and lost a lot of weight in a short time - 35 kgs in four months, to be exact. I had stopped drinking alcohol and coffee because I thought they weren't agreeing with me. I learned to control the nausea and knew what would set me off, so stopped eating those things. I eventually went to the doctor after six months - I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to medical things. Anyway, doc sent me for tests galore. They all came back fine, so much so that I almost cancelled the endoscopy appointment. I'm glad I went. That's when the MALT lymphoma was discovered in my stomach. I'm lucky that it didn't make it to my lymph nodes. I just started a four-week course of immunotherapy. Obviously all lymphomas are different, so make sure you get checked out. I'm thanking my lucky stars I did now. Good luck, and I hope you turn out to be okay. Best wishes xx
