Bowel cancer scan results worried

Hi,

waiting for a phonecall on Tuesday from the oncologist about scan results. My partner had a resection in May and then started on chemo of 8 rounds. Scan at start of chemo showed it hadn't spread although not all of the tumour was taken away. It was decided to scan after cycle four to decide how to proceed. Treatment was delayed due to an extravasion of chemo liquid but scan was done in the 19th September. He should have had a phone constuktation on the 13th October but this had been brought forward to the 6th. Thinking the worst. So so worried . He was diagnosed as stage 3/4 as no spread

Tuesday seems a long time away

  • Hi Lisa

I had a bowel cancer diagnosis and had the operation in March, the post op biopsy showed cancerous cells in the removed lymph node so I was prescribed 8 cycles of chemo as a precaution which I've just completed.

I didn't have a mid cycle scan but guess that's different oncologists? I did have my dosage reduced to 80% after cycle 4 to reduce long term side effects.
Hopefully the early call is just a positive result of the scan.

All the best for you both and fingers crossed for positive news on the call.

  • Hi,

sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I hope all has gone well.We always knew that my partner would have a mid way scan. The scan post op showed more cancer left than they first thought and wanted to scan mid way to decide wether to operate again. Just scared of the result . They also called him in for a face to face meeting not the telephone consultation that have happened since Covid so that is very worrying.

crosding everything and hoping for Tuesday

    take care

    Lisa
