I can understand how you feel. It sounds like there are a few options - you could hold on for the waterproof cover, or if that is looking like being a while yet, then you could give yourself a wash using a flannel or sponge, without going underneath the water. I'm unsure as to the cling film option and what the doctor has told you - it may be that it is OK to use the cling film for a brief time.

Hopefully some others here will follow up with some further advice, although I appreciate it has now been a couple of days since you posted so you may have sorted this now.
