Fatigue

Does anyone else get terribly fatigued? I finished my treatment for breast cancer in July, surgery, chemo and radiotherapy and I now find I need a a good couple of hours rest every day. If I have a busy morning I can easily sleep for a couple of hours after lunch. I realise my age (I'm 67) may have a bearing. Wondering how to get my energy levels up, I have a family visiting and wondering how to cope!

  • Yes, like you I get fatigued. Finished treatment end of June.

Oncologist told me that walking until am out of breath/can't sing helps. It doesn't take long to get out of breath - walking down the slope where I live and up again is enough. I do it every day if I can, because I trust the oncologist. Probably it will take time to see the beneficial effects.

For you it might be a different distance. Going upstairs works too.

Please God your energy levels will improve. But I don't think it can be rushed. Oncologist told me fatigue can go on for months.

I hope your visiting family understand about post-treatment fatigue and cancer fatigue.
