I bought a few bras before getting a really supportive bra from M&S. It's their 'After Surgery' bra and has a zip in the front to make putting it on easier. They aren't cheap but you don't get charged VAT. 
 

They aren't pretty but definitely make up for that in comfort!!

nursing bra with pads (bit of protection if you bump against something) is something I've known friends do - especially if you've kept old ones

Someone recommended Asda George post op bras

i think they were 2 for £16 ( I ordered on line)

i find them very comfortable
