Brain mets

I've just had a CT scan which they say had no issues with the skull but I've read for brain mets that it may not show up and a MRI scan should be done. My breast cancer was misdiagnosed for nearly 18months and I have severe headaches every day so worry they have missed something. Anyone know whether CT scan can not show anything but still have brain mets? Thank you

  • I'm not 100% sure but I have a body CT and a seperate brian MIR ever 3 month. I know they used some type of CT scan as part of my Sterotactic Radiosurgery.

  • Hi Louisekate,

I hope by now you've had an MRI scan and that all is well with you. It seems to be standard practice at my hospital to do both. My exceedingly small metastatic brain tumours were picked up by MRI but to plan stereotactic radiosurgery they did both an MRI and a CT. I know this post comes a long time after your post last August so I am really wishing you well and maybe the information may help others.
