Hi everyone,
My Partner was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer February 2019. Orchidectomy on right testicle March 2019. Histologuy revelealed embryonic carcinoma with lymphovascular invasion, but no further spread. Surveillance opted for, but in March this year, a routine CT Scan showed growth in one abdominal lymph node by 1.2mm = 3x BEP Chemo March-May 2020. Bloods and Tumour Markers have remained normal throughout, never raised. His prognosis was vert good.
My Partner went for his first CT Scan following chemotherapy last Tuesday (July 14) and we had a call with his Oncologist today at 3pm (July 20). Bloods and Tumour Markers normal, however, his CT Scan hadn't yet been formally reported on by the Radiologist.
However, and here is the main point to my post, the Oncologist said that he has looked at the scan and the lymph node was clear and he will call us in 7-10 days with the formal report from the Radiologist.
Naturally, for us humans, hearing the words “the scan is clear” isn’t enough when we need something else (formal report) to conclude everything. You ask questions like “could the Radiologist see something the Oncologist cannot” and things like that.
Has anyone had any experience of this or can offer advice or guidance? It feels weird! The scan was clear said the Oncologist, but for whatever reason, it doesn’t seem as positive as it should be as we need to wait for something else! IT’S THE HUMAN BRAIN WITH NEGATIVE THOUGHTS!
Thank you everyone!
Liam.
