Headscarf advice

Hi all,

I'm 35, diagnosed with breast cancer and doing chemo. I started my chemo last week and I don't know if I'll have hair loss (I did the cold cap) but I want to be prepared with headscarves for if / when that does happen.

What I'm finding is I'm really not liking a lot of the headscarves in specialist shops / on webpages for women with cancer - I think they cater more towards the middle-aged market and look quite frumpy. I don't like it when the headscarf is tied at the back and I much prefer more of a vintage / pin-up look where the scarf is tied in a bow on top, but I'm aware that these often leave some hair showing. Has anyone bought any cool headscarves recently and from where? And does anyone have any tips for getting a more retro / vintage shape with their headscarf whilst providing some coverage on the crown?

Thanks :-)

  • Hi

It might be that you have looked at these websites and not liked them but I quite like the following websites:

    Suburban turban

    Headscarves by Ciara

    Hairless beauty

They are not the cheapest around but they are very comfy and soft to wear. I've only done one round of chemo a couple of weeks ago(for breast cancer), didn't cold cap, but very slowly I'm noticing the odd strand falling out so have got a few scarves and hats in preparation!
Cancer hair care is also a good website for advice etc.
I think it is Macmillan who have some videos on wearing headscarves which I found quite useful.

Hope you are able to find some headscarves that you like! X
