Bladder Cancer Info

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in March, had a partial cystectomy in April and am recovering well.  All scans since have been clear.  No sign of cancer anywhere else.

I am being recommended to have chemo now as it will increase my life expectancy by 25%.  I am not a fan of chemo.  It frightens the bejesus out of me.  But with stats like 50:50 chance of surviving 5+ years and chemo increasing those chances by 25%, it's hard to take. Given I will be on chemo for 4+ months, most probably lose my job and feel like ***.

Anyone out there 55 who's in the same boat or has experienced the same problem!?

Be good to hear your thoughts/input. 5 years is not a great prognosis for the ordeal ahead.

  • Hi Loopyloulou and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

That's great news about your scans although I'm sorry about your chemo concerns. Hopefully some of our members who are in a similar situation will share their thoughts and advice with you soon but our cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to talk things through with them as well.

    Kind regards,
