Hello,
Does anyone have any tips to deal with peripheral neuropathy?
I am six weeks into an eighteen week course of low dose Paxlitaxel and can feel the beginnings of this condition in my fingers and toes.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I started with peripheral neuropathy after the first of my four rounds of carboplatin/pacliatoxol. The oncologist first prescribed high dose Vitamin B6, which did make a bit of difference, then for the third cycle she cut the dose of the taxol by 10 per cent.
For the last cycle she dropped the taxol completely because the neuropathy was getting worse and threatening to become debilitating.
I'm not really sure what can cure it once you've got it, although the vitamin B6 definitely reduced the loss of feeling in my feet, which was starting to make walking difficult!
Three years on I still have some neuropathy, but it is stable. I still can't feel the ends of my fingers though, which is my ready made excuse for dropping things!
I would talk to your oncologist - tell them exactly what symptoms you have, and ask them for advice on how best to deal with it.
They will not want you to suffer a potentially life-long condition if there is anything that can be done to prevent it.
