Hurting

I had my first chemotherapy  treatment and I've hardly lifted my  head  up since. I have never felt so Ill,.  My 18 sessions of pembrolizumab  were a doddle, felt great, but this is a different  story. I really can't see myself carrying on for the next 3 months. I'm on penicillin  for a bladder infection, have stomach cramps and diarrhoea,  nausea, sore mouth, my head, neck and chest is covered in a burning itchy rash and I'm having trouble sleeping even though I feel tired out. Can someone  please  tell  me it'll  get better, I'm so on the verge of giving up, I'm obviously  not as strong as I thought.

  • Hi missusb,

I'm sorry to read about how you're feeling and how difficult the treatment is. I would encourage you to speak to your doctor or specialist about this, to find out whether all the symptoms are to be expected, and also if and when things are likely to improve in terms of how you're feeling.

If you'd like to talk anything through with our nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5 - and may be able to offer some advice.

As I say, do discuss this with your specialist so you can get some greater understanding and hopefully take some steps to ease things.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
