Stage 4 Lung Cancer ( metastatic )

Hi All
just looking for some sound advice, i was diagnosed in April 2019 with Stage 4 Adinocarcinoma lung cancer which spread to my brain Lymph Nodes & Adrenal glands, i have had cyber Knife Radiotherapy on my brain & 16 lots of Immunotherapy and now 4 cycles of chemo but the last chemo has had me short of breath and my heart feels like it will stop if it has to beat any faster. In all thiese treatments i have never had a B12 Injection to boost my red blood cells thus increasing my oxygenated blood cells, is this normal?
My last scan results were mixed with some tumours shrinking but others growing by a couple of millimetres, i am considering stopping chemo as the way it has effected my breathing, has anybody had similar symptoms?

  • Hi John,

And since I seem to be in with the first reply, welcome.

Just a thought here - with Covid rampant and hideously infectious it's way too easy to catch that and assume it's part of the cancer instead. If I were in your shoes I'd be back at the hospital pronto, listing those symptoms and asking for a Covid test. The results should come back in 24 hours (mine did) but be prepared for an overnight stay - they might not let you go home until they know you're clear. I hate to be a worry guts but better safe than sorry.

    Steve

  • Hi John, Norman my husband has the same as you, chemotherapy can leave you with anaemia which causes shortness of breath and he had a blood transfusion.  So get them to check your bloods to see if it's this that is causing it.  Carol x
