Flexible Cytoscopy - wise to reschedule in midst of Pandemic

Hello everyone

Hope you are keeping well and safe.

I am a little concerned attending my appointment next month for a cytoscopy, I was diagnosed back in 2018 with stage 1, I had a turbt operation and the tumour was removed and currently have follow up appointments every 3 to 6 months. However I am at risk patient and have been advised not to leave the house unless absolutely necessary because of Coronavirus, has anyone else attended an appointment? I am thinking about rescheduling it but in my last cytoscopy there was signs of redness hence I am closely monitored.

Would really appreciate any thoughts? Would be best to reschedule? I haven't been experiencing any pain as I had in the past.

  • Hi C28,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can certainly understand your concerns around this. I know hospitals are taking all precautions possible to make visits as safe as possible for people. It may also be the case that if you reschedule it then it could be another wait, potentially for a while, for a further appointment. However the decision is of course entirely up to you. Hopefully some others here will give an opinion on this too.

It may also be helpful to discuss with your doctor beforehand, to get their thoughts - particularly as you are at risk.

If you'd like to discuss anything with our nurses about this, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5. Talking this through with one of them could be helpful for you.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
