God it's been a tough couple of years. May 2018 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer - radiotherapy and hormone treatment seem to have it under control. Then in July of last year a lesion in my anus was diagnosed as pre-cancerous, but by October was quite aggressively malignant. I had surgery at the end of November to remove my anus completely and to have a stoma created. The histology indicated that the operation had been successful. I had been keeping a blog about my prostate cancer anyway, and had intended to end it once my recovery from surgery was well under way, but old habits die hard, and so I have added a chapter, which can be found at: stewart124.wordpress.com/.../ Hopefully it will be a little reassuring for anyone facing such an operation.
