Follow up set back.

Following a ct scan a couple of weeks ago,  I haven't been given the results I'd hoped for.   In comparison to scans I had before my successful oral cancer op., it appears that nodes in both lungs have enlarged,  one  lymph node has doubled in size too. I'm feeling all sorts of things,  hard to explain , but I think I knew I wasn't finished with this.    I'm waiting for a pet scan , and biopsies.   Just waiting again, the worst bit.

  • I'm sorry you didn't get the news you were hoping for Alpha550t.

I know I can't take away the worry but I just wanted to let you know we're thinking of you and that our community are here for you.

Fingers crossed you're not waiting too long for your next tests.

    Kind regards,

  • Things are moving quickly, had a pet scan this morning.  I've also been given a telephone appointment next Tuesday with the chest clinic, so it's not too long to get the results.

Strange in the hospital, really quiet, get out clapping again tonight everyone!

  • Hello Col

I've read a few of your posts. I'm so sorry to read you've had a few bad looking scans. What's the update? I wish that  you get some news that can be managed both physically and mentally.

It can be a cruel and painful ride. I'm waiting for a date for surgery (right neck dissection) after getting hot spots on my lymph node. I already went through 3 months of chemo and 30 sessions of radiotherapy, so a real kick in the guts. But I'm up for it and will press ahead.

    wishing you Health & Strength

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,  apart from the big problems, I hope this finds you and your family well.                                              Had an ultrasound of my neck last week and they took some biopsies, so I'm waiting to see what the outcome is.  I've been given an appointment with the same surgeon who did my tongue, on the 19th, but I'm hoping to hear something before then.       I've read what you've been through and it appears you've had a pretty rough time with the chemo etc.

Thanks for getting in touch, best of luck for your surgery when you get a date.     Colin.

I noticed you asked someone which football team they supported.    In case you were wondering about my team, I don't support football, as I live in Sunderland!!!

  • Hi Colin

Sunderland may be crap at football but by god they do make a wonderful Netflix documentary! Ha ha.

We're all doing very well considering. I understand it is common to have a neck dissection. Surgery is ok. I may need more radio but one step at a time. As far as I understand no more chemo. Horrible poison.

Are your lungs ok? I wish it's just the neck being look at for you.

    To Health & Strength

    Mike

  • Sounds like you've got a pretty good sense of humour Mike.   I couldn't have done without mine, and the family of course.   The doc doesn't seem concerned about the lungs, more important to sort out the lymph nodes first.    Am I right in thinking you haven't had surgery?    My dissection wasn't a problem really,  a bit swelling for a week or so, but no discomfort.  They took 3 nodes out of each side I think. My tongue healed spot on,  in fact I often feel a bit of a fraud, I was only off work a month.     You always tend to think of people with cancer as having a really bad time, and I haven't to be fair.       That might change of course, depending on my results,  but we'll see.

I'm useless at time zones, are you ahead, behind, sideways or what!       Catch you later. Colin.
