dads cancer might be back

i thought i'd come on here because although my friends and family are so amazing and supportive i wanted to speak to people who have been through the same thing. last march my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and in may that year he had the whipple surgery to remove it. this was successful and he recovered well but because in the surgery they noticed some cancer in a lymph node he had to have chemo. he finished his 12 rounds of chemo around december time and a month before he had a scan which showed the cancer hadn't came back. 6 months later to now he had another routine scan yesterday to see whether it's came back or not and i'm so so worried. he suffered from enormous pain during his cancer and would be going through boxes and boxes of tablets but since his chemo his pain has reduced massively and he's been getting back to his normal self. however in the past couple weeks i've noticed he's started to be in a lot of pain again and has started to take painkillers almost every half an hour. seeing this makes me so worried about the scan results as it would break me for him to have to go through it all again but i just wanted to post this to get it out there and if anyone who's going through the same thing

  • Hi there,

I'm sorry to read about how you're feeling and what you've been through recently. These worries are totally understandable - the waiting for results is never easy and I can understand it must be concerning to see your dad in pain again. The only thing I can really suggest is to try to keep your mind off things until you hear the results. I know this is easier said than done.

It's often helpful to speak to others who understand and who may have been through something similar, as you say, so I hope you find this forum useful and a safe space to write things down. It's a very welcoming and understanding community of people so do use it as much as you'd like at any point.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
