Covid-19

Hello, my mother has recentry finished treatment for breath cancer. She finished chemo about a yearange ago and radiotherapy about 8 months ago. She has Been having herceptin treatmenthe, this finished in early much. She is having zalandronic acid every 6 months. My question is at what point after treatment is someone no longer classed as clinically vulnerable in terms of coronavirus ?

  • Hello Goalie99,

Welcome to our forum. Anyone considered to be vulnerable and needing shielding in light of coronavirus should have received a letter telling them they’re in this group or been told by their GP. We have useful information on our website on coronavirus and cancer which you can read here.

You can also find out more  about who is usually considered extremely vulnerable on this page. I think the best thing to do though in your situation just to be absolutely sure is to give your mum's GP or medical team a call. They will be well aware of when she finished chemotherapy and radiotherapy and of other treatment or medication she has been recently having or is currently taking. They will also have a record of other health conditions she might have which may also be relevant. So I would suggest you give them a call in order to find out whether your mum still needs to be shielded.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 40 40 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so don't hesitate to give them a ring if you wish to talk things through with them.

    Best wishes,
