Deep sleep

Hi I'm wal sounds like sal.. I've just finished my chemotherapy treatment and I'm waiting for a scan to see if what the doctors told me has come true (they aimed to cure my lung cancer, but told me that they will nearly kill me with the treatment plan they have set up for it. I did radiation treatments twice a day for a month n I've had 4 rounds of chemo on top of that) At least 3 times after the chemo is done for over a week I find that I could sleep through a hurricane, first couple of times it lasted for maybe 36hrs n the last time it was definitely 24 hrs straight, my family thinks it's the meds I'm on but I disagree because I've been taking the same medication for 5 months now and this sleep thing only happens about a week or so after the chemotherapy, I would be very grateful if anyone else has suffered these same side effects and can indentify with me as my family thinks I'm taking two much medication. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me as I'm sure if I'm not alone in this my anxiety will go down considerably..

Thanks

John

  • Hi John, no it's not unusual to sleep like this.  My husband has lung cancer and during chemotherapy he slept more as the treatment progressed.  As soon as he got up, washed, dressed, breakfast he would go to sleep again.  I just left him alone, your body needs this rest so don't feel guilty about it.  I hope this helps your stress levels a little bit.  All the best for the future.  Carol

  • To Dor06 this has helped me more than you know just to know I'm not alone is a weight off my shoulders so thanks so much for ur kind words I can indentify with ur husband and I wish him the best for the future..

  • Thanks John, just take care that you are sleeping on something soft as it can cause pressure points as your skin will alter as well.  We're three years on and his is stage 4 incurable, so your treatment should see you through.  Carol
