Hello
I had a little accident at home on Friday and damaged a plasterboard wall making a hole as big as my fist. The wall looked to have fibres in the plaster so I plugged the wall with polyfilla. I didn't remove the broken pieces that were attached and simply plastered over them so that they are in the wall behind the newly applied plaster. I've recently learned that the fibres could have been asbestos and I don't know what to do. My eyes have felt gritty since the incident and I feel like I've been breathing in dust. I don't know if this is just from exposure on the day or if there are particles floating in the air. I'm especially worried as I am a carer and have my 76yo mother living with me who is going through treatment for breast cancer.
If it is asbestos, is there a risk from the broken bits behind the wall releasing dust that can escape into the living room through gaps, or is it safe plastered up in the wall, and if it's a risk to our health, what should I do?
