Hi, yes I am also on capacetabine and Oxaliplatin (CAPOX) for advanced stomach cancer.  I find I get lots of wind and also stomach cramps,  I can't be sure if it's the treatment or the cancer, but certainly it's worse than it was.  I am also taking eosopremazole,  I discontinued that for a few days and found that the cramping and wind was much less when I wasn't taking the two drugs together. 
 

is your husband also on CAPOX

no he is only on the one type.

we had to call 999 on the advice of the chemo team. ambulance took him in to A&E and of course I couldnt go with him. he had loads of tests and as they didn't want him to stay overnight they let him out and asked him to come back this morning. 

not sure if it's a clot, all other tests seemed ok. but to be honest he was so drained he just went straight to sleep. this morning he is so lethargic and couldnt even dress himself. such a worry seeing him like this. he was fine before he went on the chemo tablets. surely he shouldn't be this bad.

so now he is in A&E and I am waiting. I rang chemo team to see if they had been informed that he was in. they told me he is having a ct scan. mentioned something quickly about PE and that was that. 

I wasnt sure if they would look at changing his chemo tablets. he was given extra 3 lots of tablets last night to deal with the symptoms but dont seem to be working as yet. 

thank you for your reply. I am sat here worrying. he looked like he did when he was first bad with bowel cancer in Dec. so lethargic. 

I hope that he is ok.   I think most of my symptoms have come from the oxaliplatin which is a nightmare chemo.  I cannot dress myself, put myself on the toilet or get out of bed the day I come home from hospital as the chemo it is so brutal.  I am having my dose reduced this time so I hope I fare better than last time.     It sounds like your husband is having a bad reaction, a lot of people on this forum call capacitbine, crappycetibine because of its awful side effects. 
 

What  stage is your husband at and when was he diagnosed.   I am in Teesside and from referral to first treatment was 80 days.  My treatment so far has been less than sub standard.  Chasing for appointments, long waits between tests, oncologists forgetting to call me for my telephone appointment, arriving for chemo to find my oxaliplatin has not been ordered, etc., etc.,     I hope your husband is receiving good care.  If he is not we need to complain as even if it doesn't help us, it will improve the process for other patients.

he has just come out of hospital. he has a blood clot in his lung. 

he has to take blood thinners, codeine, ibuprofen, paracetamol. 

I feel totally helpless and out of the loop. I dont know what is happening and I am not sure he has all the info as he is so lethargic. 

he was fine until he went on chemo. obviously it needs to be done as he cant have operation yet on his liver. it just seems to wipe him out and he has only been in it since weds. I understand why they dont keep him in hospital but I just feel we are left to get on with it. 

I just feel there is no support.  I am trying to stay positive.

I really hope you get support. I am originally from Teesside. Stockton on Tees. I moved away when I joined the RAF.  Do you have family or people to help you?

sorry I dont know the stage. he went in after christmas with vomiting and stomach pains, he had blockage and removed part of his bowel and then test results showed it was cancer in the bowel. after pet/mri scans a further lesion was found on liver. they would have operated but not operating at mo so going for chemo until date for operation comes up. 

I'm glad you have him home.  I'm sure he will,pick up quickly now.

Best of luck.  It's really hard for those caring for us.  I feel so bad for my,poor husband all our hopes and dreams have been shattered.  It's worse for him than it is for me.
