  • Honey,

I want to prepare you for what is to come.  Please don't be a naive ninny like me, thinking 'oh they'll just operate, remove it, move onto radiotherapy, all clear.'  What they will do is remove the tumour and a fair bit of tissue around it, to make sure they remove all the cancer.  They may also remove a couple of lymph nodes and check them to make sure it hasn't moved there.

After this first operation, you may very well get your all clear, which I sincerely hope you do.  Or you might get a call like mine, saying 'erm yeah, we found cancer on the edges of the extra tissue, so we need to go back in and take some more.  Oh and those lymph nodes we removed, yeah, they both tested positive for cancer.  Gonna need to whip 'em all out okay?'

Please don't anybody shout me down for scare mongering etc, I honestly was so naive and I wasn't prepared for that first results call.

Anyway, hugs honey and hope your treatment plan has been sorted

  • Love that you said that x as I'm the same I'd like to know as much as I can I'm not an iddiot and I love that you sent this xx yer I know but I'm glad you said it as I also got a wake-up message from a lovely lady after I had said I wanted a double mastectomy..she said I wouldn't be able to wipe my own *** ....lol I hadn't thought of that .

So I'm just taking each step step by step not thinking to far forward x how are you doing ? What treatment are you on at mo poppet I'm just waiting for my CT and MRI had bloods done and have to wait till the 14+16 of may as has to be day 10 of my cycle xx

  • Also I look at the op like cutting mold out of an orange you take as much as you can but some could still be left so more needs cutting out ..I like putting pictures line that in my head it helps me xxx

  • Ha ha, yeah, I'm brutally honest and tell it like it is!!!  I will say if you end up with a drain, TAKE THE DRUGS, or you will not sleep!  I had to wipe with my left hand while the drain was in, because it was so painful!!!  Had it removed yesterday and pain is almost gone.  Having my dressings removed by the hospital at home team on Sunday.  Yeah, I'm now waiting for a CT scan, and the results will dictate my chemo cocktail.  4-5 months of that to go, followed by radio 2 therapy as my son calls it!

    Hi Kelly,

I went to hospital with a device to help me to wipe, as I thought that this might be difficult with a drain in both sides and a double mastectomy. I never needed the device and was able to keep clean from day one. As you have probably seen above Sarah has kindly spoken to the technical experts and, I am still waiting for access to Private Messaging, so haven't forgotten about you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx.

  • Radio 2 therapy lol I love radio 2 x I was thinking of how to prepare so I'm organising my kitchen so I don't have to reach  also ordered pillows x

Do you feel sick as I worry about that as I hate being sick also have you lost weight ? Iv started an insta story mainly for myself to keep a record of every step x

  • I haven't lost weight, but I don't have an appetite. I'm a taurean and we love our food, so Deffo something wrong there! I felt sick after waking up second time round, because of the drain. Feel even worse after my results call yesterday, knowing I'm going to need chemo and possibly have secondaries. I'll get over it, but it's the shock factor. Got a serious project now though. This coronavirus biz means I'm in isolation. Poor hubby is on the dining room floor on a sub rate mattress. Now we know I'll be having chemo, I can work on converting our spare room into a bedroom for me and he can move back upstairs. Ahh, it will be me, the dog and my Unicorns. Xx

    Hi Tul,

I am so sorry to hear about the outcome of your results call yesterday. Are you going to have more tests to see if there are any secondaries? I sincerely hope that there are none. However, whatever the outcome, I'm sure that you'll cope. It's amazing what we can do with our backs against the wall!

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine. Did start a new thread about it, but nobody commented. Prolly because I said I am using the forum to vent my anger. All this grief for an18mm tumour!!! I am so glad I listened to my Mum who told me to go to the GP, the week I found it. They are doing something about it and the pain after the two ops is worth it. I always say pain is good because it means I'm alive to feel it. I've talked to members of the chemo clan today, who've confirmed it is as bad as I think it's going to be, so that's OK.  I'm hoping there are no secondaries too, but that depends on the ct scan results. I don't care why I have cancer, I have it and that's that. Everything happens for a reason and it will all become clear as I travel this journey with you all. Take care everyone and have a blessed evening

    Xxx

    Hi Tul,

I am sorry to hear that you have had no reply to your new thread. I don't think that venting your anger here would put anyone off. We are here for everything. It is only natural to feel angry, annoyed, emotional, scared and a whole host of other emotions. We all know what these feelings are like and are here to give you the benefit of our experience, information or just to listen to you rant and rave - it's amazing how much better you can feel when you get your true feelings written down.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years, but have no experience of chemo. As far as I can see, it all depends upon what type of chemo you have, as to how you'll react. I am glad to see that you have such a positive approach to it all. This will help you through.

It sounds as if you have a tough ride ahead of you, but we are all here to support you. I'm sure that you will come out of this a stronger person.

Do please keep us updated about your cancer journey. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
