Chemo side effects

Home from hospital after 4 nights there in isolation. I had Neutropenia and a mouth infection. Lots of antibiotics and mouthwashes later am back in my house  and garden. I have my next chemo deferred for a week to allow me more time to recover. Haven't spoken to my Oncologist yet but hoping the drugs may be reduced slightly to prevent the mouth ulcers that made me so unwell. Actually scared of the 4th cycle, but there's no choice I have to finish the 6 cycles. The NHS were great, managed to keep me safe and in isolation while I was in the hospital and I tested negative for Covid.

Best wishes to everyone going through this , it will pass I keep telling myself!

    Hi Silver,

It must be so nice for you to be back in the bosom of your family again. I hope that you are continuing to recuperate at home and am glad to hear that your next chemo session has been deferred for another week. I do hope that you will get the opportunity to speak to your oncologist, before your next session and, that you can persuade him/her to change your dosage.

You are now half way through, so do try to finish the course if you can. I am so glad to hear that you were well taken care of in hospital, even though you couldn't have any visitors.

    You can do this!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Oh Silver I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had such a rough time. Glad to hear you’re back home safe now and you were well looked after at the hospital. I wonder if you would benefit from having some of the gcfs shots to take home and administer yourself to boost your white blood cells. I had to inject myself from day 5 for 4 days It was easy to to although I know some people struggle to do it themselves. It might be worth you running by your oncologist if you’re worried the infection might come back.

And yes you will get through this! Rest up and stay safe x
