Scared about delays in treatment

Hi there

My mum is due to have her next cycle of chemotherapy soon, however we are terrified that things will now be delayed with the virus becuase how under pressure the hospitals are at the moment. Has anyone had any experience of this happening to their treatment? I've seen a few segments on the news saying that cancer services have been delayed, and we haven't had confirmation of the appointment for chemo yet

Thanks

  • My treatment received by 3 weekly infusion has been suspended. I had a tel call from Consultant and was advised more dangerous to risk Cv by regular hospital visits for treatment than to take break.

They will be in touch with me again in June but I can call in between if necessary.

Not too good as I am also shielded so a bit too much time to dwell on it all.

The decision to suspend treatment was not a discussion but was something I was told would be happening.

On the bright side they can resume treatment with same drug when start again as they have been advised this will still be funded whereas in past could not have break and then return to same treatment.

If your mum has not heard from her Consultant perhaps calling them might clarify her situation.

  • I'm editing this post as I did not read the above post.

Might there be a chance that they take each individual chemo case on it's merits?

You might want to try the nurses, I know they can't diagnose but they may have some words for you Tel: 0808 800 4040
