Chemo and infections

I woke up this morning and was crying with the pain of my mouth ulcers. Phoned the onco nurses yet again and they decided I should go the hospital. Not a light decision as Covid 19. If it hadn't been for the Virus I would have gone to the doctors or hospital before. I was taken straight to an isolation room with air flow and my own bathroom. All doctors and nurses are masked. The doctors didn't examine me as they are not getting too close, but immediately I was put on a drip of antibiotics and now I am on a dehydration drip. I have neutropenia  so have been given an injection to raise  my white blood cells. Keeping me in overnight, not sure how long. Such difficult times to be going through chemo but I am getting the best treatment and my partner and I we're finding it difficult to cope at home. Bit of a relief that I wasn't making a fuss but really was unwell. Hopefully on the mend now !

Will update soon x

    Hi Silver,

I do hope that you manage to get discharged today. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better, despite the lingering ulcers and dry throat. It is certainly worth talking to your oncologist to see if she can alter your chemo to something with fewer adverse effects.

I think that you are mixing me up with someone else. I am one of the lucky ones in that I've never had chemo - I had enough side-effects with Tamoxifen and Letrozole!

I'm delighted to hear that you have tested negative for Covid 19. You've got enough to deal with without that!
