Chemo & corona virus

My 3rd cycle of chemo for FEC breast cancer went ahead on Monday. Day 2 , expecting side effects to kick in! Yuk

So far OK with appettie, just very tired today but thought there's no rush to do anything as I've got lots of days ahead of self isolation. Felt fatiqued today so had a lie down this afternoon. But have put a curry in the oven and pottered around the garden. Lovely long conversation with friend on phone.

I am really hoping my chemo wont be delayed, just want to get it over with. I have a letter from Oncologist for meeting in 3 weeks time. Last one was telephone consultation where she took me off the steroids that made me phsycotic and on other anti sickness medication, so that a relief. They make me drowsy too so good for plenty of rest.

I feel for everyone going through this cancer treatment with the added worry of the Corona Virus with no white blood cells to fight the infection. Its so scary.

Stay safe and at home.

  • Hello Silverdays
How are you doing? Hopefully the side effects haven't been too bad this cycle. It's good to hear that you've not been overdoing things and looking after yourself.

Fingers crossed your treatment regime won't be too disrupted by the virus but just take things one day at a time. The situation is constantly changing and your Consultant will be weighing up all the risks and options ahead of your next meeting.
    Look after yourself.

    Best wishes,

  • Yes, hoping that my chemo cycles will go ahead, having come this far. This cycle I have sore throat and dry mouth, but my temperature is a bit low, so keeping an eye on infection. May phone the nurses tomorrow if my throat doesn't clear. Worrying time with added stress.

  • Hello Silver,

just to say I am hoping that you and all people undergoing treatment don’t get any postponements. Total agony to have this virus changing the rule book just when you need the NHS so much.  It seems too harsh to remove planned stuff. My heart is with you. Go steady.
