Clarification of Symptoms

Hi

never done anything like this before, but I am going out of my mind with worry.  And I appreciate each person who reads this and can hopefully share some experience.

my mum was diagnosed with bowed cancer in October. A huge shock for us all, although the symptoms were there when we look back now.

In December she began 3 months worth of chemo. One day IV, the rest tablet form. This month we have found that the tumour is still growing.

as a result she has now begun another chemo (same dosage) but we have been told this is stronger and is called irinotecan?

since she had begun this, she is more sleepy during the day and is basically bed bound. She seems to be losing more weight, has no appetite and to me looks like she is failing :( I'm really scared.

does anyone have a similar story? Can you tell me if these side effects are normal.

thanks for reading my post x

  • Ahhh sorry about all your worry. The medical team will be doing the best they can for her. Without medical knowledge all I can say is plenty of fluids, water, eat whatever she can little and often. I have just my 3rd round of chemo for breast cancer, the side effects knock me out for a week or so, the drugs are very strong but it's all for the greater good if it shrinks the tumour. Sleeping is good. It's so hard when it's a loved one, we're all out here for you going through various stages of cancer, so keep posting.

    Best wishes,

    Silver x
