Anyone taking palbociclib(ibrance) in a different regime

Hi there, having posted before on a different subject and received some wonderful advice i would like to hear from other people who are taking Palbociclib  but  instead of  taking the usual pattern of 21 days on the meds and then a  7 day break maybe you are taking it in a different way?, for instance 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off or maybe 3 days on with 4 days off? to try and maintain a neutrophils count above 1.0 . I am writing this post as my 80 year old mum has been on palbo and letrozole since may 2019 and started on the higher dosage but it was tapered down in beginning of august (75mgs) to try and maintain her wbc , she has done well with this but it is not unusual for mum to have a reading of 0.9 neuts so treatment has been deferred few times , we have had her treatment  deferred again this week until 2 weeks time again as again 0.9 reading....i have read that some women are taking palb differently and there are 6 different ways to take it? Mum needs this med as it is working and shrinking the cancer.

Also anyone had injections to raise neutrophils?

Love to hear from anyone who can give their wonderful wisdom.xx

Many thanks rmichelle

  • Hi Michelle.
I'm glad to hear that the treatment has been giving some good results for your Mum.

I've had a look for some posts using the forum search function and if you search for the term Palbociclib you'll see a few posts come up which may be of interest.
There's also some information on the Breast Cancer Now website which may be of help. I've linked it for you here

If you'd like to speak to one of our nurses for some advice and information then you're welcome to give them a call. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that things continue to progress well for your Mum.
