Hi I was diagnosed with T2 non muscle-invasive bladder cancer in November 2019; I've had all tests done and the TURBT on Friday 13th December, informed I had a very large mass in lower part of my bowel and several tumours all around, good news is I have removed them all my urologist said.
at a consultation with him shortly after he said that he has reccomended that I have a 6 week course of chemotherapy (Mitomycin C ) but unfortunately that's in very short supply due to brexit and will be in touch I asked if there were anything else reply no.
still in pain and off sick and several Utis later my sick note was running out my company asked me to chat with a occupational therapist which I did and she recommended that I return to work on 50 % of my hours phased back in, my company wanted me to get signed off by my doctor making sure I was reasonably fit to drive being a wagon driver delivering steel tubes, a week before that I went to my doctor still having diarrhoea everyday he sent me for another ultrasound, results at my surgery by now my doctor thought I wanted to extend my sickness note I replied no I wish to return to work if that's okay, he replied no your results have shown a return of the tumours and I want you seen Asap by the urologist, he was shocked that my cancer had came back so quickly 5 weeks, till I told him I had no had any chemotherapy due to lack of the drug.
im having 2nd TURBT on 14th February 2 days after a colonoscopy and biopsy to find why I'm having diarrhoea for so long 8 months now only stops with the side affects of my pain killers co-codamol which I have reduced wanting to return to work.
being off work I've had the time to look up the short supply of the chemotherapy drug Mitomycin C it's been recalled and supply will be affected for up to 12 months I found a memo on line from a hospital in London it goes on to say that there is other drugs along with the BCG, Epirubicin which showed difference in efficiency with Mitomycin, I was not offered any hence my tumours returning.
Is anyone else having trouble getting treatment for their cancer?
