Nervous about Brachytherapy

I have my last cycle of Chemo tomorrow which will be number 6. I met with my Oncologist yesterday and she said I would need Radiotherapy internally does anyone have any experience of this ? I will meet with the Radiologist in March. I know after Chemo any further treatment should be easier but it is another unknown experience and something I wasn't expecting, I would be grateful for any info.

  • Take a look at the Macmillan site for more info, I found it really useful. They were very gentle with me as I found the insertion of the tube into the vagina uncomfortable. Then you have to stay still for the duration, think it was 10-20 minutes, can't really remember, feels like forever. Take podcasts or music to get lost in. I found it tiring, but probably more to do with emotion and horror of whole cancer treatment, and I found myself getting weepy about the whole indignity of it all, so don't beat yourself up if that happens too. You've already done chemo so this should be a walk in the park

  • Thanks for the info. regarding Macmillan site I will take a look.

I am not expecting the experience to be pleasant and hope I will not be sore after the treatment, have heard some people find it tiring. Again like Chemo it depends on the individual, I will just have to think of the bigger picture and get through it.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
