I had four cycles of EC chemotherapy and then four cycles of Herceptin with Pertuzumab and Docetaxel for breast cancer. I was originally told that I'd continue with iv Herceptin and Pertuzumab for a year. However the Oncologist said that the latest protocol is Hetceptin via subcutaneous injection. I go to the hospital every 3 weeks to be jabbed in the thigh.

Thanks for your reply,  yes it seems that's going to happen to me now. Did you get side effects? Did you have lymph node involvement?

The injection site hurts for about 10 minutes... do NOT press hard with the cotton wool. Apart from that I haven't had any issues with the Herceptin. 

Luckily my lymph nodes were clear. 

Sorry to hear that. However, my tumour shrank dramatically after switching to Herceptin,  Pertuzumab and Docetaxel. It didn't respond to EC. The Herceptin will be targeting any rogue cells that managed to escape via your lymph nodes. 

There are women on here who are on cycle eighty plus of Herceptin and still going strong.

I was told that if you are going to get breast cancer then a HER2 positive tumour is best because of the good available treatments such as Herceptin. 

I forgot to mention that the Herceptin has caused reduced heart function. I'm on medication and it has stabilise. They expect it to go back to normal once the injections have finished.
