Post op eating

Hi

My 72 year old  husband is several months post op oesophagectomy.  He was doing really well, 7 weeks after his operation he delivered logs to my daughter, unloaded then, stacked them, then walked her down the isle the following week.  Life was looking good again.  Then had one round of post op chemo that floored him .  He discontinued it after 5 days, This was several weeks ago and he is still struggling.  He is exhausted, no appetite.  When he does eat he spends the next 2 hours with his head on the table feeling exhausted, sweaty, nauseas and generally and utterly " done in". He cant go on like this.  Any advice greatly appreciated.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Mrsgmarthur although I'm sorry to read of the difficulties your husband is having at the moment. It sounds very difficult and challenging.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will offer their thoughts and advice soon but do be sure to let his medical team know what's going on as they will be in the best position to help.

We have some tips on coping with loss of appetite on our website which I hope will help as well but you're welcome to give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
