Anyone else suffering clots & DVT's?

Hi all

Brief background ; I got a picc line installed in August last year a week before getting chemo because my veins are awful and ABVD chemo is rough on veins. Within a week I'd developed a DVT all around the outside of the line, but they decided to keep it in, use it for chemo, and start me on high dose of clexane injections.

A ultrasound of the arm in November showed most of the clot had cleared though I remained on clexane as the line was in.

I had the line out last week and my arm has been agony. It's ached through the process but became so painful, travelling up my arm and shoulder. No obvious external signs e.g. heat, redness or swelling.

However another ultrasound shows a new DVT and clots all around the veins.

It's just doing my head in because in November the clexane seemed to have done the trick and now they seem to have reappeared everywhere.

I've tried speaking to the specialist about this but she just said I'm on a high dose of clexane and just to continue with this for now. I would have thought that if I was on that high of a dose then the clots wouldn't have formed again!?

Anyways, just needed a little rant as I supposedly finished chemo two weeks ago but have yet to celebrate as I've been in and out all week trying to deal with this arm pain - finally admitted yesterday and been given oxycodone for pain relief.

Anyone else really struggling with clots? How long has yours taken to clear? What dose of blood thinners are you on if any?

All the best

Rose
