Tonsil cancer chemo radiotherapy

My husband has had a call to say he's neutropenic and might not be able to have his second chemo on Wednesday.
we are 13/35 radiotherapy and 1/3 chemo. Just wondering how common this is? Anyone experienced similar?

  • Yes my husband has twice had his chemo delayed due to very low white blood cell count. His second cycle was delayed for two weeks and the dose for subsequent infusions was reduced to 80% of the original dose. He has suffered less nausea and sore mouth since then. He is supposed to have chemo on alternate Fridays and had managed this the last two cycles. He felt so poorly before that he was grateful to have his chemo delayed.

  • Thanks Ronnie46, just nice to know it's not unusual. His mouth is so sore after just one and he was very nauseous at first also, I wonder if his dose was too high? He's very slim ‍♀️
