Developed cough

Survived the masectomy surgery and that is now fluid free and apart from some redness and tightness is healing quite well. I have the movement back in my arm  after the axillary node clearance. Cancer was found in 2 lymph nodes under my arm. I have seen the Oncologist who has talked me through the first stage of  treatment, 6 sessions of chemo starting in 2/3 weeks. There are 2 enlarged nodes in my chest wall and a few days ago I had flu type symptoms and it's left me with a bad cough , feels like upper respiratory. Although Doctor thought I may have picked up a virus I'm terrified that the cancer has spread to my lungs and am living in fear. Not sleeping as the cough is waking me.
oh to be a well person again!

  • Hello Silverdays,

Dont run away with your views and i know its difficult to manage after what you have had to endure.#

This could be nothing and until your consultant says otherwise try to get it out of your head.

you are naturally going to be worried and yes it could easily be a virus, there arre many germs floating around and it is likely your immune system will be low. keep in touch with your Doctor and although try to relax dont let them leave it too long before making further checks. All the best.

  • Yes thank you, I'll ring the Doctor tomorrow, best to get it checked. Always more of a worry when living with this horrible disease.
    Best wishes,
