Capecitabine

Anyone on capecitabine tablets? I start on Wednesday 2 per day for 14 days then 7 days off. Had 18 weekly paclitaxel chemo didn't work interested to hear from anyone on these just reading possible side effects!

  • My husband was given capecitabine tablets after his first infusion of oxaliplatin. He was supposed to take two a day but he couldn't tolerate the nausea. He couldn't eat or drink so they changed his chemo to Folfox.

Thet say everyone has different side effects so you may not suffer the same but be sure to take all the sickness medicine they give you in the right doses. They say it is easier to avoid the sickness than to stop it once it takes hold.

With Folfox he had a very sore ulcerated mouth. Waiting to see what happens after the next cycle but he has lots of medicines so hopes to ward off the worst.

    Good luck with your treatment.

  • Thank you sending best wishes to you and your husband and hoping treatment goes well

  • hello Cutie,

l experienced capecitabine, six week course with radiotherapy pre op, and then 6  three week rounds post surgery. The nausea was not too bad,but it gave me neuropathy of hands and feet..Although thankfully the hands have recovered, my feet are left with permanent nerve damage. l have managed to convince my brain to stop constantly reminding me when l am on the go and l can just get on with it

The good news is that l had bowel cancer that then decided to go on vacation to my liver, and l am six years on enjoying life, thanks in part to this medication and l hope they help you to overcome your issues

  • Thank you for your reply and great to hear you are doing well :)
