hope you managed to have a good Christmas.

I had a lumpectomy in May and the area around the incision did get quite hard, now 7 months on it is really hard. I didn't get any swelling that I recall, drop your breast care nurse an email, she really won't mind. I had mine checked a few times after my surgery and she found two stitches had been left behind.

Hi.  Thanks for the advice.  Yes definitely best to drop a note to the breast care nurse. Better to be safe than sorry.  

I don’t like making a fuss but as this is uncharted territory for me I will need to get comfortable in speaking to the professionals.  

I feel a bit of a fraud as they caught my cancer really early so my treatment is so minor compared to other some of the people on these forums so have tried to get through this with little fuss but think today it has caught up with me - probably because it is a new year.

I felt like a fraud as well as mine was found very early but my surgeon said to me that I had still had a cancer diagnosis and that in its own can be difficult to cope with. 
 

things are getting back to normal now thankfully, are you due to have radiotherapy, I had 15 and it was absolutely fine.

Definitely talk to your nurse, she won't mind at all and it will ease your worries x

I was very worried about the tamoxifen as I've never been able to take some pills due to reactions but I can honestly say the tamoxifen has been absolutely fine. I've got joint pain but that could be down to hitting the menopause at speed.

I didn't have a lump or symptoms either, I had pain on the left side, went for mammogram, didn't hear anything for 6 weeks then got a letter saying they had seen something on the right, I was very lucky (if you can call cancer lucky) that they found it at all.

Look after yourself, don't do too much x

If you have a swollen and hard area I would contact your breast nurse, if only to put your mind at rest. I had a masectomy 4 weeks ago and have had a red swollen area. I phoned breast nurse and we decided I should go to my GP for antibiotics as it could be infection and to contact her in a few days. She may give you different advice but always in your best interest.

Gosh, it was lucky your cancer was picked up early. I had a mammogram that was clear, a year later a 2.9cm lump found on my breast and 4 weeks ago had masectomy!
Just shows how important screening is.

I hope that you start to feel better from the effects of your surgery soon.  

Really realise how lucky I have been.  Mine was only 15mm so absolutely tiny.
