Breast Reconstruction ...

Hi all ... I feel really vain in asking this but don't know how it works .

Had mastectomy in August - no option of immediate reconstruction as widespread DCIS. Thinking of reconstruction next year ( I know the options on how it's done as my sister has been through it twice )

I just wonder - do they reconstruct and do other breast too - or just the one ? It sounds a stupid question - sorry  ( it's just that I'm just big chested - one side now )

( It was different for my sister as she had immediate reconstruction 1st time - and immediate implant the 2nd ....and smaller breasts )

Thanks for any advice ....

  • Hi Lucky77,

Don't feel vain in asking - it's a very sensible question! However unfortunately I'm not sure of how best to advise. It might be good to try searching the forum (using the button in the blue bar above) to find any similar discussions if you can as I know there will be others here who have been through something similar.

Otherwise, try to talk it through with your doctor - or you can always give our nurses a call on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,
