Breast Cancer radiotherapy

Hi i just want to know if its painful after week of radiotherapy my mum have brest Cancer and she said she had a pain in her breast she dont know if its cuz of radiotherapy

  • Hi mine was painful after radiotherapy finished for a few weeks. Was told it was the tissues knitting together. Maybe she could speak to the team looking after her. I got burning effects about a week after I finished nicky x

  • Hi there I finished my radiotherapy exactly a week ago. I get occasional tingling and a bit of discomfort. Also feels a bit hot and itchy. If your mum is worried get her to ring the Macmillan nurse or the radiotherapy team at the hospital

  • Hi there can only speak from my experience. I felt fine during the 15 sessions of radiotherapy. Quite tired but that wasn't helped by a very long journey every day to the hospital with only weekends off!

Everybody is different though and will have different side effects. Good idea to start moisturising now with E45 cream to help when you start radiotherapy and keep applying it throughout and after treatment has finished. Was also advised to drink plenty of water too and also rest up. I have been making sure to get a lie down in the afternoon and been catching up on all Downton Abbey series - sheer bliss

Im taking Anastrazole which started in September and apart from a few hot flushes have been ok.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment plan. It's such a relief to get started and time actually goes quite fast in the end.

    Love Mary xx
