    Hi Ploppy,

I am sorry to hear that you feel a lump in your chest wall after surgery. I had this a year after my lumpectomy 10 years ago. Unfortunately it was another cancer and, I had a double mastectomy. I had my annual check up yesterday and the doctor has left my next appointment for another year.

Sometimes, what feels like a lump is just scar tissue, so let's hope that this is the case.

I sincerely hope that you get good news tomorrow.

I shall be thinking of you with everything crossed.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine for your response. I'm expecting the worst to be honest, but encouraged that you are 10 years down the line. I can't quite believe it's come back so quickly. In my head I'm going to be dead in a year but your post has given me hope, thank you.

Great news your check up went well, fab news xx

    Hi Ploppy,

If you are expecting the worst, the results can only come back better. I note that you only had your surgery in May. I had a suspect lump in my other breast within months of my first surgery. Fortunately, although the lump was bigger than the original one, it turned out to be benign.

I was very surprised when mine came back in the original breast within a year. Like you, I was grade 1 and the new cancer was the same type and grade.  My surgeon was surprised too, as I have a rare type of cancer (Mucinous Carcinoma) and it is supposed to be less aggressive than other types. I felt like you do to start with. Still, I had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole for 6 years and, am still here to tell the tale.

I'm always relieved when my annual check up is over, as like most people, I am always afraid of it spreading. There are many ladies on here with more aggressive cancers, who are still ignoring The Grim Reaper's call long after their original prognosis has expired. Either way, you too can beat this and can be with your daughter for many more years to come.

I hope that your appointment with the surgeon went well today.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

I saw the surgeon and he really struggled to find it but when he did he said he didn't think it was anything sinister and felt like a fatty lump/gland. He has ordered a scan but isn't concerned. The nurse with him said to me when he left that he feels lots of lumps all the time and knows what he is doing.

until the scan is done I won't relax completely but I am feeling very relieved tonight. He also said that he would be very surprised if it is anything given that I've had a ct scan and mammogram within the last 6 months and radiotherapy less than 3 months ago.

Thanks so much for your kind words, I've been crying most of the day which isn't great as I'm moving house tomorrow and have a lot to do xx

    Hi Ploppy,

Wow, you really are a glutton for punishment! - How you can cope with a house move with all that is going on, I don't know. Are you moving far away?

It sounds as if your consultation today went well. I am glad to hear that your surgeon has ordered a scan, despite the fact that he thinks that it is clear. I'm sure that you would never be happy that this was so, if he hadn't done this.

The nurse is correct. Surgeons see and feel so many lumps day and daily that they could diagnose most people without the benefit of a scan Your tears today were possibly more tears of relief than anything else. Did he give you any idea of how long you are likely to have to wait for a scan? I have been waiting 2 months for a brain scan. I hope that your wait isn't as long.

I know that you won't relax completely until you get the results of the scan, but I am absolutely delighted that it was good news for you today.

I hope that all goes well with the house move tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Jolamine,

Definitely a glutton for punishment, only moving about 5 miles, we are all really looking forward to it.

I'm so sorry you've been waiting so long for a brain scan, are you experiencing some problems? Have they said why the delay? He didn't mention how ling I'd wait, if I'm honest I'd happily wait till after Christmas, you get a bit sick of hospitals and scans don't you.

    Have a good day x

    Hi Ploppy,

I hope that the move went well for you today. It is always exciting to move to a new home.

I have been having turns sporadically for the past few years. I don't lose consciousness, but have a rigor and can collapse. I am aware of it starting and, if I sit down quickly I am able to sit it out. My Blood Pressure is also very high and more recently, I have had another strange sensation, where I get a sort of 'rainfall sensation' from the middle of my head, down the left side of my neck and shoulder to just above my elbow. My GP wasn't too sure whether this was due to new blood pressure medication or to something more sinister. She referred me to see a neurologist who in turn, referred me for a brain scan. I was told at the time that it could take 6-8 weeks to get an appointment, so I am still hopeful that I'll get seen before Christmas.

I wish you and your family every joy in your new home and hope that the news you've had today actsas a good omen for you all in the future.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
