Quite a big decision....but doing it

As from tmrw I will be stopping the ((Letrozole)) I have been on it long enough.  Feel very positive. The weight gain, fatique, hot flushes, which is a nightmare, a few aches...made my mind up and my husband also feels I should try it for 3 months...see how I get on...It so helps reading everyone;s own situations.  Thank goodness we have thsese chat lines.  I can live a normal life without any side effects...In my mind its saying (but what if) and I know at any time i could get any type of cancer just not breast cancer...So here I go....

  • Hello SueField,

A warm welcome to our forum. It is indeed a big decision to take. I think it would be a good idea if you haven't done so already to discuss this decision with your medical team in case they have alternatives to suggest. It does sound like you suffered some truly unpleasant side effects poor you.

I am so pleased you have found the forum useful for you. We also have a nurse helpline you are welcome to ring should you wish to talk to our nurses about this. You can call them on this free number 0808 800 4040 their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie,

Soon after writing my bit...we were going away for 2 weeks and decided I would continue taking the tablets until I came home and I gave myself time to think about it.  You are so right as I think its best I discuss this with nurses or my doctor.  I really would love to stop taking them but there is always that question in my head "what if". Thank you for the free number and I will ring their line and discuss it in more detail before I actually make that BIG decision.  Thanks for reading my notes...much appreciated.
