Letrozole & tamoxifen

Hi [@Jolamine]‍  and everyone that replied to my post. I went back to my oncologist and asked about the pet scan and he said I didn't need one. So I have started on the tamoxifen so it's only been a few weeks so hopefully it will be okay with side effects. I'm still in pain with my bones especially the hands, was glad to hear about you all going through the different aches and pains (sorry I mean it in a good way in that I don't feel so alone with this), I will look up the "trigger thumb" as mine are clicking all the time and very sore. Will get to my Gp see if there is anything I can take for the bones. It's really great to see this forum and all you strong friends getting through years of problems with your cancers. Well done Has anyone ideas to help with thinning hair on the very top of your head? Mine is still not great and I've tried massaging oils etc but not much luck. Wishing you all the very best. Love Ellen x

    Hi Ellen,

I am glad to hear that you have started on Tamoxifen now. I have had pain in my joints with both Tamoxifen and Letrozole, but we all react to these drugs differently, so i hope that you manage well and without too many side-effects.

Make sure that you do have a chat with your GP about strengthening your bones. He should be able to help.

I find that Alpecin Double Effect Caffeine shampoo has helped my hair to thicken up. This might help you too?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolemine,

lovely to hear back from you. Thanks for the shampoo advice I will pick some up and give it a go. I'll try anything once. I am taking Calcichew tabs twice a day but will definitely ask if there is anything else to try. I'm sure I'll be fine, like you said we all have some side effects.
I hope you are doing well jolemine and coping with your bc alright. You seem very strong and positive which is vital to help get through the tough times.
Many thanks again for your advice and if you ever need a chat I'm here

    all the best
