Pablociclib Schedule

Hello everyone.

This is my first post, so forgive me if it's repeated elsewhere, I couldn't find anything when I searched.

I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer back in July having been "clear" for three years from primary. Had a limpectomy and nodes removed in 2016 and was prescribed Tamoxifen for five years. Two and a half years in the cancer returned and is inoperable, with a tumour in my sternum between my collarbone and ribcage. I'm now on Letrozole with monthly injections of Zoladex, and am taking Pablociclib on a three week on, one week off schedule. I've just finished my first three week bout and have been off for three days. Is anyone else on the same medications? Do you feel worse since stopping for the week break? I'm finding it hard to concentrate, feel absolutely dreadful most of the day/night and my anxiety is peaking almost constantly. I'm back to oncology on Thursday for bloods and repeat medication, but in the meantime I was hoping someone could advise if they're feeling this way or if there is anything they can recommend. It's a struggle, I will admit. I thought I was rougher than this, but it's really bringing me down now. As my words of advice are appreciated. Thank you all.

  • HI Cbdiva,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read what you're going through at the moment. Firstly, don't worry about expecting to be tougher or anything like that - try to accept how you're feeling if you can and not try to fight it too much.

While I can't help with your questions, I would suggest discussing this with your doctor at your next appointment to find out if the way you're feeling is to be expected, or if there is anything they can suggest to help ease it.

My reply here will boost your post so more people will see it and if anyone here has similar experience then hopefully they'll be along soon. If not, do feel free to browse the forum and use it as much as is helpful for you - everyone here is very welcoming and it is an understanding community of people.

I hope the things you mentioned improve for you soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi cbDiva in some ways I'm similar to you, I've prostate cancer that's gone to lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and a lung i was diagnosed Feb 2016 it's uncurable I'm on permanent hormone therapy and cemotheropy when needed, i just live with my uninvited guest,, i live one day at a time,, I've also got to look after my disabled wife she needs 24 /7care, so no good thinking ahead, things do get easier over time I'm a lot more relaxed now then when i was first diagnosed,. Don't know if this helps you but best wishes... Billy
