Thyroid

I had bad ear ache back at the time I was diagnosed and I said it to doctor in hospital and she said oh you cant or you dont or something like that, I said in my head I bloody do, I've always thought I've had it worse than what I did, but my first scan came back clear, and bloods seem ok just keep coming back low thyroxion levels even tho I'm on 100mg of levothyroxine, can anyone that has had half there thyroid removed tell me what level of levothyroxine they are on and were yous feeling tired all the time, during the day, then nor sleeping right every couple nights, feeling cold right inside your body, you will know what I mean if you get this feeling, it's hard to describe, my bloods keep coming back high inflammation markers but the problem with that is they cant tell what's inflamed in the body, but it's funny how I have one massive lymph node that is NOTED THEY SAID, on back of my neck on side that was removed it was scanned and said ok, but I've got loads of small ones coming up all round my right coller bone, and my shoulder and neck hurts, when I was first examined by doc when first seen her I was asked if I ever broke my neck as one my left side coller bone was higher than the right, and now I'm getting this horrible feeling in my shoulder/neck, I'm just so worried that it has never went away at all and I've still had it all along, it's just a worry every day now,

  • Hi Bardon1981

I'm really sorry to hear that you're continuing to deal with these health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling worried.

You mention that your blood results show that you have low thyroxin levels. Presumably given these blood results and the symptoms of tiredness and being cold your GP or Consultant is looking at reviewing your medication. If not then it's certainly worth asking. Hopefully if they are able to get your thyroid levels more stable then this will help you to feel better.

If you'd like to talk through your concerns with one of our team of nurses you can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

I do hope that things start to improve for you soon.

  • Yeh I had doctor on phone yesterday I am now put up to 125mg of levothyroxine so i will just have to wait and see how it makes me feel, but I've got a horrible feeling of something stuck in my throat or a scratchy feeling in my throat that is really starting to worry me, it's always there so I cant just do something to try and forget about it, it's the side I had half removed, I'll just go back to docs and tell them what I'm feeling again, but I just feel I get told oh dont worry it's fine take this take that, it's not them that has to live with the feeling in there throat so they dont know what it feels like, but they will just say you had a scan 4 month ago and never seen anything so should be fine, it's just starting to drive me mad now with worry, I'm trying to quit smoking to, which seems to be really hard for me, youd think as soon as I heard word cancer I would stop straight away, but I was told that smoking probably didn't cause mine, so I thi k I think it ok to smoke, if they said it might of had a impact on it a we bit, I think I would of stopped. Didn't seem bothered that I smoked, sorry rant over, I'm just so stressed out,

  • Hi Bardon,

I'm glad to hear that you've been in touch with your GP and are planning to make an appointment soon.

From your posts it sounds as if your anxiety about things is proving to be a real issue for you at the moment too and I think it may be worth talking to your Dr about this too. In the meantime have a read through the NHS Moodzone website which will hopefully give you some tips and advice to help you manage your anxiety.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
