Anal fissures on chemo?

Ugh, apologies for the grim topic of this post.

My bowels have been absolutely through the mill since I started chemo - predominantly diahrea which whilst not particularly manageable I have learned to get through until now. With my last dose of chemo I had 10 days of diahrea and quite frankly think it ruined my ***.

My bowels are back to normal but now everytime I have a movement it feels like I'm passing glass or tearing into two. I've not suffered constipation which i know is usually the cause of fissure but wondering if it's the  persistent other that's done it. Now I dread going to the bathroom and it's just agony. Not sure what to do.

Thanks

  • Hello Ross2991,

Poor you this sounds so painful! You've been really brave managing this diarrhea and I am glad things are back to normal. You definitely need to talk to a doctor I think about this fissure and the intense pain it is causing. I am sure they will have dealt with this kind of issue before and will have some good advice for you.

We have information on our website which you might find interesting to look at on the causes of diarrhea as well as tips to help you cope with it in case it was to happen again (fingers crossed it won't though!)

I hope you manage to talk to your GP about this soon as you shouldn't suffer in silence and hopefully they will have some good advice and treatment for you to deal with this.

    Best wishes,
