First chemotherapy yesterday Secondary Liver cancer stage 4

Just had my first chemo yesterday and it was like a a surreal feeling. How did I get here? I asked myself in disbelief? The whole thing is an a whirlwind. So far no side effects but it's cumulative so will wait and deer. I was do scared yesterday as the drippped the Chemo into me.  Not sure what to expect. I wanted to run but I can't. Anyone else experiencing these feelings???

  • Hello 747,

I am glad you managed to cope so well yesterday with your first chemo and I can imagine it was a surreal experience for you and it must be difficult for you at the moment not knowing what to expect and how it might affect you. You've done the right thing though to post on this forum. Many here remember only too well what their first chemotherapy session was like and I am sure that they will be along shortly to share their own experience with you. It's great you haven't experienced any side effects so far and I am keeping everything crossed that it stays this way for you and you sail through your treatment.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share this page from our website which contains detailed information about chemotherapy. It may answer some of the questions you may have about chemotherapy.  Our nurses are also always there if you want to ask them anything - you can ring them on this free number 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I will now let our other members share their story as it's always nice to hear from people who are or have been in the same boat.

Wishing you the very best for the continuation of your treatment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi 747 as you said it's an anti climax but the effects take a few days before they start sometimes 5or,6 but whoever happens first round normally happens each time, sometimes it does get easier as time progresses, some have none it's complete luck of the draw, anyway best wishes... Billy
