Advanced linitis plastica

My relatives has been diagnosed with advanced linitis plastica. Surgery is not an option because it has spread to bowel. She is on a treatment called FLOT. I would like to see if anyone has experience of this cancer and/or treatment?

My Aunt has 7 treatments done but is getting weaker all the time. And eating less but not getting sick thank god.

  • Hi Josieann and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences with you soon but I thought you may want to have a look at this discussion about FLOT chemo whilst you wait.

I hope this helps but our cancer nurses are just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to discuss your aunt's diagnosis/treatment with them as well.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • Hi Josieann,

I have the same, total linitus plastica of my entire stomach wall. I'm not sure of your relative's age? I was 48 at diagnosis (27th September 2019).

I've had 4 rounds of FLOT, thankfully with minimal side effects,  I also have a genetic disorder that means FLOT could be fatal so I get a slightly different dosage.

I'm set for total gastrectomy but testing has also indicated a heart problem. Surgery will go ahead  on 27th January,  but with higher monitoring during anaesthetic and after.

I hope your relative's doing ok. There isn't much info on this type of stomach cancer, I believe it's rare. I've read what is around but it's mostly medical journal articles.

    Take care

    Pam
