Tablets for 5-10 years after Radiotherapy

Morning everyone on this wet wet morning here,

im off to get my dressings changed today, has it really been 7 days since they took that C out of my right boob...

live been researching the tablets as have been told I will have to take Letrazole, but found that the one with the least side effects is Femara? Any advice or thoughts on this please ?

  • Hi Mary,

I am sure I will especially when our 3 adorable grandchildren come Christmas morning and Hubby cooking for 9 of us!! I think it's the worry of the tablets getting to me..... don't think the Oncologist will have any luck although she's been trying for me to stay on the same ones, postcode lottery!!

Going out with my best friends for a girls night out Saturday so I'm sure that will get me in the mood!!

  • Hi ladies

hope my message finds you both well, arghhh the weather is horrible I hate winter.  On the plus side I'm 7 sessions down.  This morning was the first time my body felt like it had been hit by a bus.  Still no fatigue as such, just body aches.  And ladies my breast is slightly swollen is this normal? It can only be from the radiotherapy as it's been healed a long time ago so can't be an infection plus it's not a sore pain just a dull ache, but definitely swollen

Big love to you both xxx

  • Hi JBee,

    Suuny here but cold....

WOW 7 sessions done, you'll soon be into single figures!!

I think it maybe because you are doing too much and that's why it's swollen?
I felt like I'd been hit by a bus but that was a tiredness bus..... as your body aches maybe you've got a touch of flu possibly?

Tiredness was the only thing I got from radiotherapy but that didn't start for me until after about 11 sessions but then we are all different... are you just gently washing boob with water and patting gently dry? And no deodorant?
Rest for the weekend and if it's still swollen on Monday see what they say?

Big hugs you are doing fantastic xxx

  • Hi Jackie,

I seem to be in the same situation with Tamoxifen for 5yrs and Radiotherapy and I can't make up my mind whether to stop all treatment as I'm told DCIS has been removed or to accept follow on treatment of Radiotherapy then tablets for 5yrs. If I get any advice I shall inform you straight away.

    keep strong

  • Hi Angel,

My tablets have been stopped as too expensive....I've got MS and don't want the horrid side effects that the generic brands give.....

The radiotherapy was a breeze to get through and I had 20 sessions just very tired after but livid over the tablets, seeing oncologist on Monday to see what she says.... not hopeful but will see what she has to say! A postcode lottery as ladies up North can still have thrm....

Do the radiotherapy Hun at least.

  • Thanks hun, guess I am still working and do the housework etc so maybe.  It's not painful which I guess is a good sign.  Yup using E45 and sanex was, doing it gentle and patting rather than rubbing.  I will definitely check with the team Monday, although it was like this Friday and they never said anything.  Skin seems to be ok which is good.  Shoulders have a stiff feeling, otherwise I think it's all good.  Hmmm I've got the wide awake bus haha struggle to sleep even though I'm tired.

Mixed weather today, raining then sunny then raining... cold and windy though.  Went to hairdressers in the hope it cheers me up it sort of did.

Enjoy rest of your weekend and thanks for advice all taken onboard.

  • Yes you are definitely doing too much lovely! You can do gentle arm exercises but need now to slow down and rest when you can.....

I still have the wide awake active brain even though I'm tired but girls night out tonight so hoping it will, perk me up and then I'll sleep tonight!!

I really think you need to slow down and that's what's causing the swelling, sod the housework lol,

So rest for the rest of the weekend and that's an order lol

    loads of love xxx

  • Yes ma'am

Have a lovely night out with the girls xx

  • Hi JBee lovely to hear from you. We have had some really wet weather and the days are so dark at this time of the year . Sounds like you are doing well, I had the same symptoms plus felt very fatigued which seemed to get worse after the radiotherapy had finished.  I still feel quite tender and a bit swollen still. I just slap on the E45 regularly.

    Love Mary xx

  • Hi Jackie what tablets are you on, is it Anastrazole?

    Love Mary xx
