Hi there,

Thank you so much for offering reassurance to others in a similar situation.

I am having my left lung removed tomorrow morning (although the surgeon has said it will be tricky due to the position of my ( large) tumour so she might not be able to do it.)

I suppose I don’t have to tell you how scared I am. Scared, but determined to get through it, whatever happens.

I was absolutely fine 10 weeks ago when all this started with a slight wheeze and mild cough and now my entire family are holding their collective breath and I can’t move across a room without uncontrollable coughing and wheezing.

My fear of the operation and the aftermath is currently not as bad my fear of in not happening and having to live with the breathing issues with a large inoperable tumour.

Bless you it's a very scary time. Best thing I can tell you is just keep thinking this time tomorrow it will all be over.  Breathing wise it will still be  bad until you and your body learn to cope with it the stairs a nightmare till you master them  and you will I wish the very best of luck xxx

I had the operation yesterday and thank goodness they were able to remove the lung. I feel loads better because the cough has gone and I can breathe again! I am obviously still in hospital but I’m comfy and fine at the moment.

Do you mind me asking what if any treatment( e.g chemotherapy) you had afterwards?

Mine wasn't lung so can't advise on treatment.

I know it sounds silly but you really do feel better after the op. Now I was lucky they got all the cancer and it hadn't spread so half my team said I don't need chemo an the other half said maybe  we had a long chat with the chemo team an decided my body had been through enough  so ask questions  this your body see what's best for you  xxxxx

I feel loads better today mentally and physically,  and my lung is expelling some mucous after the operation. I know exactly what you mean about feeling there is no need to rush to more treatment discussions immediately.  My surgeon just came and said she’d see me in the new year to discuss it so I feel freed from worrying about the cancer situation for a bit and just able to focus on recovery. I’m truly relaxed for the first time in weeks and weeks and I’m so lucky to have this respite.
